## The Shambling Curse This is the converse of a ghost or spirit: a body, the soul departed, left walking. While many view vampires as dead, the walking-dead *truly* are dead, and will, without some kind of magical or mad-science preservation, begin to rot and tend towards animate skeletons. This curse is brought on after death, and is a curse of the body. While feral undead exist, mostly the walking dead are *made*, through necromantic magic or mad science. Mad science tends to have the most success stitching together multiple bodies to make one powerful undead, whereas necromancy tends to more easily apply to individual bodies, just taking what it can get from the remains. As a being lacking a soul, they lack direction and drive of their own. They are therefore ripe to be controlled by a strong-willed being. And guess what, a necromancer or mad scientist, the one who brought the curse on them and maybe preserved their flesh, is likely to be such a being.
