I provoked (heh, *Masks* joke) Corley into laying out how to handle mysteries in *Masks*. Especially when one draws from things like *Young Justice* that are Robin-heavy, you want clues and mysteries and revealing the big villain’s plan. But to make them roll to spot anything is a trap, and a dastardly one. Corley lays it out really well:
> As always in *Masks*, mysteries are just ways for people to feel ways about themselves. "Yeah you're stumped. You can't figure it out. The dastardly Professor Rebus (an adult) sends you an insulting letter about how dumb you are. he's telling you who you are, you gonna take that?" or " You find a critical clue! But Captain Super, an adult hero, takes it off your hands saying 'we will handle it now, kids', what do you do?". and of course someone with the right one can Unleash their Power of being super smart or super perceptive or the Reformed can just call an old supervillain pal and ask for the answer and check the track, etc. comic book mysteries are rarely mysteries! they are just a string of encounters.
> Batman doesn't solve cases by assembling clues and making deductions, he *finds a clue that tells him, within the confines of his abilities, directly where to go next*.
