# Campaign Setup XXX TODO - Training games - Choosing nations, factions, and types - Making commanders - Consider that Privateers are at a disadvantage unless the game is quite large; focus on Pirate and Militia factions. # Play cycle We play using the rules in *No Peace Beyond the Line*, p196 et seq, subject to the changes laid out in these pages. After campaign set-up, the cycle is as follows: - Each turn lasts one week. The CO (campaign organizer) will, in advance of the turn start, determine the battle opportunities for that turn. - Turns begin with dealing cards, choosing cards, and taking turns selecting battles. Once every player has selected a battle opportunity, or the time runs out, the play phase of the turn begins. - Cards will be dealt at **6pm Eastern on Tuesdays**. - If you have a free re-draw, you will be notified; otherwise, you may re-draw for 1 Rep, once. - If you draw any campaign events, the CO will be notified, and you and they can work out the result. - Cards must be selected by **6pm Eastern on Wednesdays**. At this time, or when all players have selected a card, turn order will be posted. - On your turn, you may spend Rep to purchase resources. - On your turn, you must choose a battle opportunity. - If there are any unmatched players, volunteers will be sought to fill gaps. - See [[2. Rules and Rulings]] under “Decisive Victories” for changes to the award if you have no battle. - Turns must be completed by **6pm Eastern on Thursdays**. - Players are responsible for reaching out to their opponent and scheduling their game. - Players choose their own point value for their game based on the time they have available to play. Higher point values mitigate the impact of the commander, especially as the campaign progresses and the commander may become more effective than a free commander would normally be. - Points should not go below 100, or over 300, generally. - Players should use the Board Generator to make boards for their games, unless they agree otherwise. - Board sizes should be as follows: - Land: - <200 points: 3’x3’ - 200 to <300 points: 3’x4’ - 300 or more points: 3’x5’ - Amphibious & Sea: - <200 points: 3’x4’ - 200 to <300 points: 4’x4’ - 300 or more points: 4’x6’ - Players may reach out to the CO for help setting up boards. - Players must submit the results of their battle by **12 noon Tuesdays**. There is time between the submission deadline and the next turn start to allow the CO to review submissions. - Battle results include the following information: - Strike points for each player - Whether it was won by timeout or by a strike test (voluntary or otherwise) - Whether either commander was captured or killed - At least one screenshot of the battle, and at least a little narrative description of the highlights. - See [[2. Rules and Rulings]] for details on calculating strike points at the end of a battle, and considerations regarding captured and killed commanders.
