Here are some optional rules I’m playing around with for Firelock Games’ wonderful 1/600-scale Golden Age of Piracy admiral’s-eye-view miniatures game *[Oak & Iron](https://firelockgames.com/pages/oak-iron)*! ## How to Avoid Huge Ships Collisions should have a _chance_ to damage the ship you hit. When you collide with a ship, roll to damage and entangle as normal. However, the ship that is hit also rolls a number of dice equal to your ship’s Fortitude minute their ship’s Fortitude, minimum zero. If they roll one or more (skull) results, they take one point of damage. ## Will this boarding action please be over already? You can Rally while Entangled. Good luck finishing that boarding action! ## Others I have yet to write: - Backing when into the wind - Cutting cable when anchored - Wind shadows and stunning the wind - Increased resilience when at a sharp angle to cannon fire - Reduced maximum angle to the wind - Storms - Vessels catching fire - Steerage (helm and rudder) damage
